More information and registration
Bookings for third party press conferences at IAS 2013 now open
The IAS 2013 Media Centre will have one press conference room. When not in use by conference organizers, the press conference room will be available for use by third parties (this refers to all parties other than the conference organizers and includes NGOs, government bodies, international organizations or agencies, foundations and/or industry representatives).
Please note that only press conferences linked to the IAS 2013 Programme will be taken into consideration and, when possible, they should take place on the same day as the relevant presentation. Bookings for third party press conferences are now open. Although there is no fixed submission deadline for third party press conference applications,
we advise you to submit your application before 15 May, as last minute requests may prove difficult to accommodate due to space limitations.
To send a booking request please read carefully the
instructions and send us by email the
booking form filled with the requested information.
Media accreditation and registration
Media representatives are strongly encouraged to register
by 17 June 2013, 24:00 CET. This will allow sufficient time for the secretariat to review your accreditation documentation (after 17 June journalists may be required to wait in line to be accredited onsite).

Words of welcome
Dear Editors and Journalists:
As planning for the 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2013) gathers pace, the IAS 2013 Communications Team welcomes you to the Online Media Centre, a resource designed to provide timely information and practical tools for media representatives covering the conference both on-site and remotely.
The IAS conference is the world’s biggest science focused conference on HIV and AIDS. Held every two years, the conference attracts about 5,000 delegates from all over the world and is a unique opportunity for science, health, and development journalists to access the world’s leading scientists, clinicians, public health experts and community leaders. IAS 2013 also represents an exceptional opportunity for networking, helping to connect journalists with the people, opportunities and information they need to further develop their scientific reporting.
Malaysia is the first Asian host of the IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention, and has been chosen as host country for its government’s commitment to provide free HIV treatment to all Malaysians in need of antiretroviral therapy and for its leadership in the area of HIV prevention for people who use drugs. We hope that your media coverage will help us make IAS 2013 another important milestone in the global response to the HIV epidemic and will highlight successes and challenges specific to the region.
On-site, a state of the art Media Centre will serve the needs of print, broadcast and radio journalists covering IAS 2013. A multi-lingual communications staff will be available to assist journalists with editorial, technical and logistical support, a room will also be available for interviews, and a press conference room will be used for the official daily briefing and press conferences. Press kits, including new science fact sheets, programme highlights and speaker bios, will be available on-site and through the Online Media Centre.
Our new media tools have been set up to help both traditional and non-traditional media report on the conference, and the latest conference updates and ideas are shared through the Conference Blog and Facebook page. We will also be tweeting – @ias2013 – and hope many of you will tweet along with us, using #ias2013 to keep the conversation going. Photographic coverage of the conference proceedings will be provided, with high-resolution photographs available for download on the Online Media Centre and homepage of the IAS 2013 website. Examples of photography from previous conferences can be found
here.
We look forward to supporting your work in Kuala Lumpur or to facilitating your coverage remotely. If we can be of assistance, please contact us at .
Kind Regards,
Siân Bowen
